In São Paulo, even the dead are robbed! Even the dead have no peace,” says Francisco Machado, director of the Consolation Cemetery Defense Movement
Nine tombstones were stolen in the Cementery of Consolation on Saturday (17). Among the objects that have disappeared are a bronze garland weighing more than 200 kilos and other bronze objects from the tomb of the Marquis of Itu. The bandits also tried to pluck a bronze plaque from the same grave, but they could not.
” I was warned today by the tomb cleaners. When they arrived to do the cleaning, they found the tombs looted. They affirmed that it was tonight, because yesterday they were perfect “, informs Francisco Machado, director of the Defense Movement of the Consolation Cemetery. ” In Sao Paulo, steal to the dead! Even the dead have no peace, “he says.
To prevent further theft, the State Coordination of Community Security Councils has requested that the Metropolitan Civil Guard be at the main gates of the cemeteries of São Paulo for an injunction.
